The 1979 Lamborghini Countach LP 400 S from the 1981 movie The Cannonball Run makes history
Washington, D.C. (USA)/Sant’Agata Bolognese, 29 September 2021 — The 1979 Lamborghini Countach LP 400 S, chassis number 1121112, is well known for being the star of the 1981 comedy film The Cannonball Run. Exactly 40 years after the film’s release, considered one of the most iconic car movies of all time, the Countach, one of its stars, has made history by being included on the National Historic Vehicle Register of the United States Library of Congress, managed by Hagerty Driver’s Foundation, on the shortlist of just 30 cars to date considered of national importance for the United States.
To celebrate this historic moment, the Countach is being displayed this week inside a glass case on the National Mall in Washington D.C., one of the capital’s most important historic sites, also home to the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument.
From now on, all the information regarding the car, its history, a 3D scan of it and copies of all its documentation will be preserved in the Library of Congress: the oldest cultural institution in the United States, an official body of the United States Congress and America’s national library.
When The Cannonball Run hit theaters in June 1981, with a fictional plot based on the real-life secret race that had taken place for several years between the east and west coasts of the United States, few foresaw the enormous success it would have and its importance in the history of American culture. Those were the years in the U.S. when a speed limit of 55 mph (88 km/h) was in effect and where the dream of any kind of speed, even just slightly higher, was strictly repressed by the police. During the same years, a group of passionate motorists decided to challenge the system by racing across the continent in the least amount of time from downtown Manhattan in New York to a marina on the Pacific Ocean at Redondo Beach in California. Obviously, such action did not go unnoticed by the Hollywood screenwriters who made the movie, choosing the most representative cars of the era driven by a star-studded cast including the likes of Roger Moore, Burt Reynolds, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Junior, and Farrah Fawcett.
The undisputed protagonist, and in the film the winner of the race, was the 1979 Countach LP 400 S, black with mustard yellow interior, chassis #1121112. Right from the three-plus minutes of the opening scene dedicated entirely to the Countach, shot in the desert east of Las Vegas and using the sound of the V12 and its six carburetors as the soundtrack, the Countach was one of the biggest stars of the movie and had the audience dreaming. The car was delivered new to Lamborghini’s distributor in Rome at the time, SEA Auto, and was immediately exported to the United States and sold in Florida. In 1980, the owner, a friend of the film’s director Hal Needham, loaned it to him for filming. The Countach was modified for the movie with the addition of a front spoiler, twin spotlights, three antennas and 12 exhaust pipes. It was noticed on the set by Ron Rice, founder of the sunscreen brand Hawaiian Tropic that was famous for its motorsport sponsorships, who fell in love with it and bought it on the spot. He kept it till 2004, when it was sold to attorney and Lamborghini aficionado Jeff Ippoliti of Florida, who still owns it.

Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4. A design and technology benchmark for modern super sports cars, reimagined for a new era: Our legacy to the future
Sant’Agata Bolognese/Pebble Beach USA, 13 August 2021 – Automobili Lamborghini unveils the Countach LPI 800-4: a futuristic limited edition paying homage to the Countach’s iconic status as a revolutionary design and technology rule-breaker and recreated for the 21st century.
Its puristic lines are immediately recognizable from the Countach legacy: the patriarch of modern super sports cars and Lamborghini design. With its aspirated V12 engine combined with Lamborghini’s hybrid supercapacitor technology, the Countach LPI 800-4 retains the inimitable V12 experience and sound from its Longitudinale Posteriore (LP) mounted powerplant combined with the hybrid (I) technology developed for the Sián. Delivering 814 cv as maximum combined power (rounded at 800 in the name) from its aspirated powerplant (780 cv) and electric motor (34 cv) to its permanent four-wheel drive transmission, the LPI 800-4 produces peak Lamborghini performance of 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 2.8 seconds, a 0-200 km/h in 8.6 seconds and a top speed of 355 km/h.
“The Countach LPI 800-4 is a visionary car of the moment, just as its forerunner was,” says Automobili Lamborghini President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann. “One of the most important automotive icons, the Countach not only embodies the design and engineering tenet of Lamborghini but represents our philosophy of reinventing boundaries, achieving the unexpected and extraordinary and, most importantly, being the ‘stuff of dreams’. The Countach LPI 800-4 pays homage to this Lamborghini legacy but it is not retrospective: it imagines how the iconic Countach of the 70s and 80s might have evolved into an elite super sports model of this decade. It upholds the Lamborghini tradition of looking forward, of exploring new design and technology avenues while celebrating the DNA of our brand. It is a Lamborghini that innately expresses the marque’s enduring and emotive power: always inspirational and thrilling to see, hear and most of all drive.”
Countach – the patriarch of modern super sports car design
The Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 is instantly recognizable as the elevated descendant of Countach generations: testament to the lasting impact of the original Countach design that became the poster car of the 1980s and a symbol of automotive and lifestyle ultra-cool. The Countach moniker – a fitting expression of surprise and wonder in Piedmontese dialect and pronounced ‘Coon-tach’ – is one of very few Lamborghini model names not connected to bulls.
“The first Countach has been present in our Centro Stile as a model for some years now”, explains Mitja Borkert, Head of Centro Stile. „Whenever I look at it, it gives me goose bumps and it serves as the perfect reminder for me and the entire design team to design every future Lamborghini in a visionary and futuristic way. This is an unnegotiable part of our DNA, the essence if you so will. The first Countach shaped the Lamborghini design DNA like no other car; the new Countach translates that unconventional and edgy character into the future.”
The Countach’s distinctive silhouette with the essential line running from front to rear, sharp angles and lines and idiosyncratic wedge shape, innovated modern super sports design as well as future Lamborghini models. The Countach LPI 800-4 develops the characteristic lines of the Countach’s five models over nearly 20 years, concentrated into the purest realization of iconic automotive design.
The final outline is pure and uncluttered, with references to the first LP 500 and LP 400 production version. Giving the LPI 800-4 a distinctive Countach face, inspiration was taken from the Quattrovalvole edition in the assertive lines of the front bonnet with long, low rectangular grille and headlights, as well as in the wheel arches with their hexagonal theme. The sharp inclination of the greenhouse adopts the straight lines redolent of the original Countach, adjoining the powerful, clean front-to-rear line. There is no fixed rear wing outside the pure lines, and the airscoops are integrated fluidly in the strong shoulders of the car, embellished with the distinctive Countach slatted ‘gills’. The iconic and aerodynamically powerful NACA air intakes cut into the side and doors of the Countach LPI 800-4 while the distinctive Periscopio lines running through the roof to the rear of the car, particularly distinctive if viewed from above, appear to float towards the rear of the car.
The rear of the Countach LPI 800-4 is immediately recognizable from its distinctive inverted wedge shape, with the rear bumper featuring a lower, sleeker line, and the ‘hexagonita’ design shaping the three-unit rear light clusters. The LPI 800-4 sports the four-strong exhaust tail pipes of the Countach family, connected within the carbon fiber rear diffuser. Access for driver and passenger is of course via the infamous scissor doors, first introduced on the Countach and that have become a Lamborghini V12 signature.
Performance engineering for a new era
The V12 engine of the Countach is as legendary as the design. Mounted longways at the rear together with its forward-cabin layout, the original Countach featured side-mounted radiators from Formula One; forward-facing gearbox and tubular spaceframe technology. It was as revolutionary in its approach to sports car engineering as in its astonishing looks, with its engine position chosen for weight distribution and balance and of course, the aspirated twelve cylinders delivering the most emotive top performance. The Countach developed the best available technologies to produce an extraordinary car: this visionary philosophy is reflected in the Countach LPI 800-4, taking the pinnacle of current Lamborghini technologies and engineering to produce the performance expected from a Countach in 2021.
“The engineering team that developed the original Countach advanced Lamborghini’s pioneering technical approach, delivering unexpected innovations and the best performance available in a production car,” says Lamborghini Chief Technology Officer Maurizio Reggiani. “That spirit inherently drives Lamborghini R&D, resulting in the pioneering hybrid technology in the LPI 800-4, and the emotive driving experience and top-line performance expected from a flagship V12 Lamborghini.”
The Lamborghini V12 6.5 liter engine, outputting 780 cv, is combined with a 48 volt e-motor mounted directly on the gearbox providing a further 34 cv for immediate response and increased performance: it is the innovative and unique architecture Lamborghini developed for Sián, that is the only mild-hybrid technology to create a direct connection between electric motor and wheels, preserving the pure V12 behavior. The e-motor is powered by a supercapacitor providing three times more power compared to a lithium-ion battery of the same weight.
The monocoque chassis and all the body panels are in carbon fiber, provide the optimum lightweight solution as well as exceptional torsional stiffness: the Countach LPI 800-4 has a dry weight of 1595 kg for a dry weight to power ratio of 1,95 kg/cv. Visible exterior carbon fiber features are available in the front splitter, around the front window and wing mirrors, engine bonnet cover air intakes and rocker panel and it is always present in specific interior details. Moveable air vents produced by the state-of-the-art 3D printing technology, and a photocromatic roof - changing from solid to transparent at the push of a button – act as a reminder that this car, despite its historic inspiration, is a future automotive screensaver for the 21st century
Snow, McAleer Pick Up Race 2 Win at COTA
A penalty for Richard Antinucci handed victory to Change Racing’s Madison Snow and Stevan McAleer in Race 2 of Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America at Circuit of The Americas. Antinucci, who muscled his way to the Pro class lead with 20 minutes to go by an aggressive pass on Snow in Turn 11, was forced to serve a drive-through penalty for passing under a local yellow. It relegated Saturday’s race-winning No. 27 Dream Racing Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo to a fourth place finish.
Reigning Pro champion Snow took his No. 16 Change Racing entry across the line for his and McAleer’s first win of the season in a race that ended under full-course caution.
It marked McAleer’s first career Super Trofeo victory which has propelled he and Snow into the Pro points lead.
A heavy crash by the No. 82 Change Lamborghini of Scott Welham halted proceedings with less than ten minutes remaining, with the clock running out of time to restart the race.
The No. 48 Kelly-Moss Road and Race entry of Alec Udell, who was catching Snow prior to the yellow, finished second, ahead of the Prestige Performance with Wayne Taylor Racing duo of Kyle Marcelli and Danny Formal, who completed the overall and Pro class podium in third. Victor Gomez claimed Pro-Am class honors after a late-race pass on the No. 51 Taurino Racing Lamborghini of Claude Senhoreti.
Senhoreti’s co-driver Loris Spinelli led overall from the start as Max Weering suffered an accident to bring out the first yellow on the opening lap. The race restarted with 36 minutes on the clock.
Ashton Harrison picked up Am class honors in the No. 25 Wayne Taylor Racing entry while Bill Peluchiwski came out on top in LB Cup, marking four different class winners compared to Saturday’s season-opener. It wasn’t clear sailing for a number of competitors in Sunday’s 50-minute race, however. The No. 6 O’Gara Motorsport/USRT Lamborghini, which challenged early in the hands of Jacob Eidson, suffered a right-rear puncture and finished just off the lead lap.
Daniel Mancinelli, meanwhile, was forced to serve a drive-through for passing before the start of the race in his No. 11 TR3 Racing Lamborghini, which finished seventh overall and fifth in class.
Saturday’s LB Cup winner Matt Dicken stopped on track during the final, race-ending yellow, dashing any hopes of a repeat podium finish for his Change entry.
The No. 46 Precision Performance Motorsports Lamborghini of Brandon Gdovic and Bryan Ortiz, which picked up Pro-Am class honors in Race 1, rebounded from a drive-through penalty for not meeting the minimum pit stop time to finish third in class on Sunday.
New Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2: racing in style
Sant'Agata Bolognese, May 26, 2021 – Lamborghini Squadra Corse presents the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2, the latest version of racing car that will be used across each of the three continental Lamborghini series, starting in 2022. Radical aerodynamic refinements and an uncompromising design created by Lamborghini Centro Stile make the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 the most high-performance version ever to race in the one-make series, which in 2021 contested its 13th season.
“Seven years have passed since we introduced the first Huracán Super Trofeo at Pebble Beach, and now Squadra Corse is adding a new chapter to its history,” commented Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “The Huracán is one of the biggest bestsellers in the history of the brand, and the Super Trofeo has additionally helped to increase its success”.
Since 2009, 950 drivers have raced in the Super Trofeo, competing in over 310 hours at the most prestigious tracks in the world. Maurizio Reggiani, Chief Technical Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, remarked: “The Super Trofeo is the best testing ground for technical and aerodynamic solutions for both road cars and GTs, and with the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 we have definitely taken another step forward. In April 2021 we celebrated the milestone of the 400th Huracán racing car, and our goal with the Super Trofeo EVO2 is to reach 500 in just a few years”.
Aerodynamics and design are the areas in which Squadra Corse and Centro Stile have concentrated on the most. From an aesthetic point of view, the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 takes the design of the previous generations to the extreme, anticipating the styling elements that will debut on road cars in the coming years. The front end has undergone a radical change, featuring new high-intensity full LED light clusters with a hexagonal design and a pronounced “omega” lip that joins the carbon-fiber fins and reinforces the stylistic link with the Huracán STO. Also new are the air curtain intakes, which optimize airflow, by keeping it adherent to the sides, as well as downforce.
The rear, dominated by the large carbon-fiber wing, was inspired by minimalism and lightness. The frames of the new LED light clusters pay tribute to the design of the Countach and are efficiently supported by the arched carbon-fiber bumper, which harmoniously links the aerodynamic appendages located behind the wheels to the redesigned diffuser fins.
Mitja Borkert, Lamborghini Head of Design, commented: “When we approached the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 project, we immediately thought of the concept of ‘Racing in style’. That is, a combination of the typical aggressiveness of the Huracán racing cars and the classic stylistic features of Lamborghini’s DNA. In addition, the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 represents a futuristic aesthetic approach that partially anticipates the design elements of the next range of road cars”.
Innovations are also seen in numerous components of the bodywork, such as the side member paneling and the aforementioned rear aerodynamic appendages, replacing plastic materials with carbon fiber, while maintaining the maximum sustainability in terms of running costs. In addition, the rear fenders are now composed of a single element, which includes part of the side spoiler, for optimal surface continuity.
The braking system, designed and developed by Squadra Corse, has also undergone changes. The steel front discs are increased from 380 to 390 mm; the new calipers can accommodate pads with a new design and a larger surface area to optimize performance and consumption. Propulsion is entrusted to the 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine that delivers a maximum power output of 620 HP, to be managed with a sequential six-speed X-Trac gearbox and combined with rear-wheel drive.
Giorgio Sanna, Lamborghini’s Head of Motorsport, stated: “The Super Trofeo is the basis of our concept of customer racing, capable of involving and exciting both young talents and gentlemen drivers. The Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 is dedicated to both categories of drivers, and we have designed it with the precise aim of offering an even more engaging driving experience, while paying the utmost attention to running costs”.
The Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 makes its public debut on May 28 in Le Castellet, on the occasion of the second round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe. The price for the European market is €250,000, excluding taxes. Customers will have the opportunity to upgrade the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO with a dedicated kit available from early 2022.

Automobili Lamborghini: Strong profitability and second-best year ever for turnover and sales
Sant'Agata Bolognese, March 18, 2021 – In a year of significant challenge such as 2020, marked by the spread of the pandemic worldwide, Automobili Lamborghini responded to the situation with great energy, flexibility and determination, recording positive commercial and financial performance. The most notable financial result is the achievement of the highest-ever profitability.
Stephan Winkelmann, President & CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, commented: “Our immediate responsiveness, an ideal model mix, and the growing demand for customization of our products pushed profitability to the highest levels. In such a difficult year, the brand demonstrated great strength and continued its growing appeal, bucking the trend in the global luxury industry.”
2020 was the second-best year ever for Lamborghini in terms of both turnover and number of cars delivered. Lamborghini ended fiscal year 2020 with a turnover of 1.61 billion euros, just 11% down from 2019. This is attributed to the decline caused by the 70-day production stoppage in the spring, in compliance with Italian government directives and to protect the health of workers during the initial emergency phase. The company demonstrated prompt reaction and flexibility in responding to the emergency period, through careful cost management and ensuring continuity in the launch plan.
In 2020 Lamborghini delivered 7,430 cars worldwide, a figure representing the second-best sales result ever following the record set in 2019 with 8,205 cars delivered. The United States remained the top market with 2,224 cars delivered, followed by Germany (607), Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao (604), Japan (600), United Kingdom (517) and Italy (347).
Winkelmann added: “2021 opened with a very positive outlook: deliveries in the first two months of this year have already surpassed those of the previous pre-pandemic period, and the orders placed thus far already cover nine months of production.”
This year the company expects further growth with China jumping to second place in its core markets.
The new year was inaugurated by the commercial launch of the latest model unveiled by Lamborghini at the end of 2020, the Huracán STO - Super Trofeo Omologata a road-homologated super sports car inspired by the racing heritage of Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s one-make race series with Huracán EVO Super Trofeo, as well as its three-time 24 Hours of Daytona-winning and two-time 12 Hours of Sebring-winning Huracán GT3 EVO.
This year, the Huracán STO will be joined by two further new products, based on the iconic V12.
The latest Lamborghini to be announced, with deliveries starting later in 2021, is the Huracán STO (Super Trofeo Omologata), a road-homologated super sports car inspired by Lamborghini race cars: the Huracán EVO Super Trofeo developed by Lamborghini Squadra Corsa for Lamborghini’s own race series, as well as the Huracán EVO GT3, three-time winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona and two-time winner of the 12 Hours of Sebring.
With its 640 HP (470 kW) naturally-aspirated V10 engine generating 565 Nm at 6,500 rpm, the rear-wheel-drive Huracán STO delivers exhilarating acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.0 seconds, from 0 to 200 km/h in 9.0 seconds, and a top speed of 310 km/h. Its heart beats with the emotion of a racing car. Superior aerodynamic efficiency, extensive use of lightweight materials, unfettered steering and first-class braking performance enable the Huracán STO to bring the emotion of a track experience to every road drive.
Underlying the innovative technical solutions that make this extraordinary performance possible are five facts not widely known:
1. COFANGO, a “Made in Lamborghini” design solution
The term Cofango derives from the fusion of two Italian words: cofano (hood) and parafango (fender), coined by Automobili Lamborghini to describe the design solution in which the hood, fenders and front bumper are integrated into a single component. This innovative system created by Lamborghini engineers is inspired by the Lamborghini Miura and the more recent Sesto Elemento, and on the STO is made entirely of very light carbon fiber. The key for opening the fastenings on the STO’s Cofango is unique: it was developed in-house by the R&D team and made using an innovative 3D printing technique.
2. Dynamic pit stop in just three seconds
There is not much that can be changed in three seconds, but the set-up of the Huracán STO is one. Three new driving modes – STO (normal driving), Trofeo (race mode) and Pioggia (raining or wet) – adapt the set-up of the car to match high-performance driving environments. The Huracán STO allows the driver to experience a dynamic pit stop, as if a team of mechanics were right there!
3. Three times around the world in simulator tests
Lamborghini’s R&D team drove a distance equivalent to three times around the world in simulator tests before starting the Huracán STO’s road tests. State-of-the-art simulator technology allowed Lamborghini engineers to save time on quality control, lead times, and emissions by verifying that every part of the car fully complied with standards during different stages of the STO’s development, certifying and testing.
4. 2,750 components to make an STO
“Do you want to build a Huracán STO 1:1?”. It will take a lot of patience, because there are over 2,750 components needed to build the latest car from Sant’Agata.
5. Connected telemetry thanks to 25,000 lines of code
The Huracán STO introduces an advanced connected telemetry system where the link between car - on-board cameras Connected Cloud Lamborghini and the App Lamborghini UNICA allows, thanks to an intuitive data analysis system and videos enriched with dedicated widgets, to transform the exclusive App dedicated to Lamborghini customers into a real track engineer. The development of this technology on the Lamborghini UNICA App required more than 25,000 lines of code.

Lamborghini SC20: the unique open-top track car by Squadra Corse
Sant’Agata Bolognese, 16 December 2020 – Lamborghini Squadra Corse presents the SC20, a unique specimen of an open-top track car type-approved for road use. The SC20 is the second one-off engineered by the motorsport department and designed by Centro Stile in Sant’Agata Bolognese: the car was created following the customer’s wishes, who was involved in the project from the very first drawings by Lamborghini’s designers.
The common goal was to build a unique vehicle, extreme in its design and performance, and able to combine aerodynamic solutions taken from racing Lamborghinis incorporating unprecedented lines and exclusive details. “Two years after the SC18 Alston, the SC20 was a new, intriguing challenge. The chief sources of inspiration were the Diablo VT Roadster, Aventador J, Veneno Roadster and Concept S, and the result is a dramatic combination of creativity and racing attitude,” commented Mitja Borkert, Head of Design Lamborghini Centro Stile.
The carbon fiber body was polished and slicked down by hand by the Lamborghini aerodynamic engineers to deliver optimal airflow for both performance and the cockpit’s occupants, ensuring comfortable open-air driving even at high speeds. The pronounced front splitter is framed by two fins and the air intakes on the front hood are inspired by those of the Huracán GT3 EVO, while the sculpted body sides reflect the solutions adopted on the Essenza SCV12. The muscular rear is topped by a large carbon fiber wing that can be set in three different positions: Low, Medium and High Load.
The SC20 features exclusive details starting from the body colors on a Bianco Fu (white) base, created for the customer, on which the Blu Cepheus (blue) livery stands out. The same shade is found in the interior, alternating with Nero Cosmus (black) and Bianco Leda (white). The most significant element of the passenger compartment is the visible carbon fiber used for the dashboard cover, rear wall, door panels, center console and steering wheel trim, in addition to the monocoque. Carbon fiber is also used for the shells of the seats upholstered in Alcantara and leather. The door handles on the other hand, are machined from solid aluminum. Lastly, the air vents are created using 3D printing technology at the Sant’Agata Bolognese factory.
Maurizio Reggiani, Chief Technical Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, stated, “The SC20 is a combination of sophisticated engineering, Italian craftsmanship, sportiness and advanced design. It is also an example of applying our V12 engine and carbon fiber to a radical open-top vehicle that unmistakably carries the Lamborghini DNA.”
Its engine is based on Lamborghini’s flagship V12: the 6,498 cm3 aspirated twelve-cylinder that delivers 770 CV at 8,500 rpm and develops 720 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. It is managed through the optimized seven-speed Independent Shifting Rod (ISR) gearbox. The power is discharged to the ground by the four-wheel drive system with central electronic differential, and the Pirelli PZero Corsa tires are mounted on single-nut aluminum rims, 20 inches in front and 21 inches at the rear.
Giorgio Sanna, Head of Lamborghini Motorsport, commented, “The SC20 is one more technical and styling exercise that associates Squadra Corse experience with Lamborghini design, masterfully interpreted by our Centro Stile based on the customer’s wishes, which was the focus of the project during the entire vehicle development and construction process.
Racetrack to road: the new Lamborghini Huracán STO
Sant’Agata Bolognese, 18 November 2020 – Automobili Lamborghini presents the Lamborghini Huracán STO - Super Trofeo Omologata: a road-homologated super sports car inspired by the racing heritage of Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s one-make race series with Huracán Super Trofeo EVO, as well as its three-time 24 Hours of Daytona-winning and two-time 12 Hours of Sebring-winning Huracán GT3 EVO.

The extensive technical solutions and intelligence gained from both our Super Trofeo and GT3 programs has been refined and embodied in the Huracán STO, allowing the pilot to experience the emotions of a racing driver, daily, in a road-legal Lamborghini super sports car able to take lap records.”
Aerodynamic and lightweight superiority in super sports car design
The Huracán STO sports an entirely new exterior design, revising its inimitable Lamborghini profile to optimize airflow. Mitja Borkert, Head of Design, says: “Racing cars are always a strong inspiration for our design. The Huracán STO exquisitely reflects the technology transfer from our successful Huracán race cars, displayed in every aesthetic detail.”
Every aspect of the Huracán STO draws on the aerodynamic efficiency and lightweight technologies demanded in motorsports. The Huracán STO embodies the principle that Lamborghini design always follows function: even more valid for a street-homologated car inspired by a racecar. The Huracán STO is the result of the collaboration between Lamborghini’s R&D, Squadra Corse and Centro Stile departments, with every line and every feature aesthetically outstanding while optimized to ensure the best driving performance.
Change Racing Takes Home All Four Championships in Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America
SEBRING, Fla. – As the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America season concluded Friday evening at Sebring International Raceway, Change Racing rode off into the sunset with all the championship hardware.
The team that fields Lamborghini Nashville Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVOs, crowned season champs in all four classes following the second race of the day and 10th of the season.
Madison Snow (No. 16 Huracán) clinched the Pro class title by finishing second in Friday afternoon’s final race. Younger brother McKay Snow and Corey Lewis (No. 63 Huracán) took the ProAm championship with a third-place result in the finale. Victor Gomez IV (No. 29 Huracán) had already sewn up the Am title but completed a perfect season with his 10th win. And Randy Sellari (No. 03 Huracán) racked up his sixth race win on his way to the LB Cup championship.
"It’s a massive cap to everybody on the team to win all the championships," said Lewis, who also earned a Rolex 24 At Daytona GT Daytona class victory driving a Huracán GT3 in January. "Total team effort. Man, it sounds great to be champions!"
Madison Snow finished on the podium in every race but one this season. That consistency led to his title.
"It’s awesome being the champion," Madison Snow said. "It was very stressful coming down to the last minute. I could’ve clinched it in Race 1; didn’t have what it took. Then in Race 2, it came down to the very end, but I clinched the championship."
Danny Formal highlighted his capabilities in the ProAm race. Starting last after his car didn’t pass post-qualifying technical inspection Thursday, Formal willed the No. 99 Ansa Motorsports Lamborghini Broward Huracán to fifth place overall and first in class at the checkered flag.
"I think it was the best start I’ve ever done in my life," Formal said. "I started 16th and by the end of the first lap I was 10th – passed six cars in one lap. The car was on rails. I’m so thankful to Ansa Motorsports. … Extremely happy, super grateful. The team is doing a fantastic job for our first season."
Lewis and McKay Snow finished the afternoon race third in ProAm, but it was enough to give them a five-point advantage (125-120) over Leo Lamelas (No. 24 US RaceTronics, Lamborghini Westlake Huracán) in the class standings.
"We just knew what we needed to do," McKay Snow said. "We ended up with two (third-place finishes) today and that’s all we needed to wrap up the championship. All we were thinking about was bringing it home because this completes a clean sweep (of championships) for our team."
Gomez continued to impress, winning by a lap in the Am class to collect his second IMSA-sanctioned championship. He was the 2018 Gold Cup winner in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama.
"It’s been amazing. I’m just so grateful," Gomez said. "I’m thankful for the opportunity Change Racing gave me. I’m thankful for my sponsors, for my family that have been traveling in these tough times from Puerto Rico. This is my second IMSA championship so I’m super happy. I’m excited for the future."
Sellari completed a victory sweep of the two races in LB Cup and choked up with emotion afterward when discussing his championship.
"That last duel with my teammate Matt (Dicken, No. 36 Huracán), that was a good one," Sellari said. "I didn’t think I was ever going to get around him. Once I got into the front, I wasn’t going to let anybody past me after that. I’m elated! I’ve never won anything like this. This is for my kids."

Lamborghini celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Urraco
Sant’Agata Bolognese, 9 October 2020 – This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Lamborghini Urraco, unveiled at the Turin Motor Show in late October 1970. This model immediately stood out for having introduced technical solutions that were very innovative for the time, thanks to the contribution of engineer Paolo Stanzani, the technical father of the Urraco and Lamborghini’s Chief Technical Officer at the time. The styling of the project was entrusted to renowned designer Marcello Gandini, who in that period was principal designer for Carrozzeria Bertone.
The Urraco is a fast 2+2 coupé, with mid-mounted V8 rear engine and independent suspension, with MacPherson strut system on both front and rear, for the first time on a production car.
Initially presented with the 2.5-liter V8 delivering 220 hp at 7800 rpm and top speed of 245 km/h, the Urraco featured the double novelty of an 8-cylinder engine and distribution with a single overhead camshaft per bank. The technical refinement was completed by the use of a “Heron chamber” engine head with flat inner part and the combustion chamber contained in a depression in the top of the piston. This solution combination made it possible to use a higher compression ratio without increasing the costs. Another novelty for Lamborghini was the four Weber double-body 40 IDF1 type carburetors.
The production system for the car was another innovation, planned from the early stages of the project to be much less artisanal than the other Lamborghini models. The creation of the Urraco was attributed to an express wish of Ferruccio Lamborghini, who was eager to expand the company’s production and make a Lamborghini that would be accessible to a wider, albeit limited, public.
Only 4.25 meters long, the Urraco’s interior spaces that were highly innovative in terms of the conformation of the dashboard, the position of the instruments, and the dished steering wheel.
Introduced as P250 Urraco, where the “P” stood for the rear (posteriore) position of the engine, and 250 for the engine capacity (2.5 liters), it was produced from 1970 to 1976. The Urraco was then proposed at the 1974 Turin Motor Show in the P200 version with reduced displacement (1,994 cc, 182 hp), intended for the Italian market, from 1975 to 1977. The next version P300 (2,996 cc, 265 hp) presented in 1974 was produced from 1975 to 1979. The concept successfully tested and brought to market by the Urraco led to the subsequent 8-cylinder models and the more recent 10-cylinder models, such as the Gallardo and the current Huracán.

LAMBORGHINI SUPER TROFEO NORTH AMERICA: SNOW DOMINATES ROAD ATLANTA RACES
Road Atlanta , Georgia, 7th September 2020- Change Racing’s Madison Snow claimed a pair of Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America victories at the Michelin Raceway in Road Atlanta. Hot on his heels all weekend though was Precision Performance Racing’s Brandon Gdovic who ended up second in both races.
Thanks to his double success, Snow turned around a five-point deficit coming into the weekend and now leads US RaceTronics’ Steven Aghakhani and Jacob Eidson by 11 aheasd of the penultimate round of the season at Laguna Seca.
Race 1
Snow led essentially wire-to-wire on Saturday, though he had to hold on in dramatic fashion at the checkered flag. Driving the No. 16 Change Racing, Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO, Snow built a comfortable seven-second lead midway through the 50-minute race before backing off as a precaution and encountering lapped traffic. It allowed Gdovic in the No. 46 Precision Performance Motorsports to eliminate the deficit and produce a nail-biting finish.
Gdovic was hot on Snow’s tail on the final lap when they came upon a pair of lapped cars entering the closing corners and downhill stretch on the 12-turn, 2.54-mile permanent road course. Gdovic saw an opportunity to make a move for the lead as they exited Turn 12 onto the front straight, but Snow was able to make his car wide enough to hold on for the win by 0.206 seconds.
"It was a good race," Snow said after nabbing his second win of the season. "I started on pole, the best spot I could have to go, and then I had a clean track the first half of the race and was able to build a gap.
"Brandon was quick at the end, definitely quicker than me. Traffic wasn’t helping that. Coming down the hill (to the final turn and finish line), we had two lapped cars, so it was kind of throw it in and hope you get it. Thankfully, I had enough of a gap that I looked back, saw where he was and then I could lift (off the throttle) coming down the hill and kind of coasted across the line."
The No. 6 US RaceTronics, shared by Aghakhani and Eidson, entered the race with a five-point lead over Snow in the Pro class. Aghakhani, however, slid off track 10 minutes into the race and fell to 15th in the 16-car field. He and Eidson recovered to finish fifth overall and fourth in class, but it still allowed Snow to take an unofficial two-point lead into Race 2.
Leo Lamelas finished fourth overall and was the ProAm winner for the second time this season. Lamelas, in the No. 24 US RaceTronics entry, inherited the lead when McKay Snow had to pit with a mechanical issue in the No. 63 Change Racing Huracán just six minutes from the finish.
Lamelas took the checkered flag a lap ahead of the class runner-up, the No. 99 Ansa Motorsports driven by Danny Formal and Trick Madsen. With their fourth-place finish, McKay Snow and Corey Lewis saw their unofficial ProAm lead dwindle to three points over Lamelas.
Victor Gomez IV drove to his fifth win in as many outings in the Am class. The result came despite the No. 29 Change Racing suffering a punctured left-front tire less than five minutes from the conclusion.
Meanwhile, John Hennessy’s dream weekend continued in LB Cup. After securing the pole position for both races in Friday qualifying, Hennessy rolled to victory in Race 1 by nearly 12 seconds over Randy Sellari. Hennessy was ecstatic celebrating his first series win in victory lane.
Race 2
Change Racing came to race in the second half of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America doubleheader at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, fielding winners in all four classes Sunday. Among them was overall and Pro class victor Madison Snow, who completed a pivotal sweep of the two weekend races to vault into the championship lead.
Joining Snow as class champions Sunday for Change Racing was brother McKay Snow and Corey Lewis in ProAm, Victor Gomez IV in Am and Randy Sellari in LB Cup.
Driving the No. 16 Change Racing Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO, Madison Snow passed chief rival Aghkahani in the pole-sitting for the lead with 18 minutes remaining in Sunday’s 50-minute race. The No. 16 built a small cushion before the No. 6 spun entering Turn 1 on the final lap. Aghakhani eventually came to a stop on track for an 11th-place overall finish, fifth in class.
Gdovic finished second overall and in the Pro class for the second straight day. By doubling up in victories, Madison Snow turned a five-point deficit coming into the weekend into an 11-point lead over Aghakhani and teammate Eidson in the Pro standings after the third of five doubleheader rounds this season. Gdovic is 12 points out of the lead with four races remaining.
Turnabout was fair play in ProAm this weekend. A day after an on-track incident shattered hopes for a class win in the No. 63 Change Racing, Lewis and McKay Snow benefited on Sunday when Leo Lamelas suffered a puncture while leading with less than three minutes left in the race. Lewis zoomed past as the No. 63 collected its fourth ProAm win of 2020 and finished third overall. Ashton Harrison and Andrea Amici took second in ProAm in the No. 25 Prestige Performance with WTR, Lamborghini Paramus Huracán.
Lewis and McKay Snow retained the 11-point championship lead they held over Lamelas going into the weekend.
Lewis trimmed a seven-second deficit to one second when Lamelas slowed with the delaminating tire.
A day after enduring a flat tire of his own, Victor Gomez IV enjoyed a less eventful winning drive in the Am class. The driver of the No. 29 Change Racing, Lamborghini Nashville Lamborghini Huracán continues to gauge his progress against drivers in other classes since he’s raced mainly without class competition this season.
In LB Cup, points leader Randy Sellari returned to winning form Sunday, a day after John Hennessy collected his first victory. Sellari (No. 03 Change Racing, Lamborghini Nashville Lamborghini Huracán) trailed Hennessy (No. 33 US RaceTronics, Lamborghini San Diego Huracán) most of Sunday’s race on Michelin Raceway’s 2.54-mile circuit before a last-lap gamble.
Sellari leads the LB Cup standings by 19 points over Matt Dicken (No. 36 Change Racing, Lamborghini Nashville Lamborghini Huracán) and by 21 over Hennessy.
Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America returns to action Oct. 30-Nov. 1 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. The season wraps up at Sebring International Raceway from Nov. 11-13.

Lamborghini secures one-two finish in opening British GT
Sant’Agata Bolognese, 2nd August 2020 – Lamborghini recorded its first victory since the resumption of the motorsport season as Barwell Motorsport’s Phil Keen and Adam Balon completed a light-to-flag performance in the opening round of the British GT championship at Oulton Park.
The duo set the fastest time in the second qualifying to secure pole position for the one-hour race, with the sister Barwell Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo of Sandy Mitchell and Rob Collard joining them on the front row of the grid. Both emerged from the first corner after the rolling start in the same order as the third Huracán of Marcus Clutton making it a one-two-three.
Keen, having started, held the advantage either side of the mandatory driver-change pit-stop, with Collard taking over from Mitchell in the #78 Huracán. A lengthy safety car intervention for an accident involving an Aston Martin bunched the field up in the closing stages.
The safety car remained deployed until the chequered flag, meaning that racing was largely curtailed for the final 12 minutes. However, that left Keen and Balon an easy run to the flag ahead of Mitchell and Collard to complete a well-deserved one-two finish.
Michael Igoe and Lamborghini Factory Driver Dennis Lind finished the race in fifth place for WPI Motorsport, ensuring three Lamborghini Huracáns in the top five. For Mitchell and Collard, their second place capped off a successful weekend for the new-for-2020 pairing in the #78 Huracán, having narrowly missed out on a podium finish in the opening race of the season.

With more than 8,300 Urus delivered worldwide since its launch, the most popular color options were elegant hues of greys, closely followed by Lamborghini’s trademark yellow. Alongside enhanced standard and optional equipment, including the most comprehensive ADAS equipment in its segment, Lamborghini Urus owners will now be able to unlock their personality even more: they can choose from an updated standard color palette and a continuously-expanding range of special colors, as well as further interior customization offered by Lamborghini Ad Personam.
“The Lamborghini Urus has attracted an extremely diverse clientele since its launch, with exceptionally varied lifestyles,” said Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and CEO Stefano Domenicali. “Nearly 80% of those customers, of which around 10% are women, are new to the Lamborghini brand, enjoying the versatility of their Urus whether for business, family outings or of course, leisure time where the luxury, emotive performance and either sporty or elegant nature of the Urus is so prescient. The colors preferred by owners has varied enormously, with a strong mix of more understated choices as well as traditional sporty Lamborghini colors.
“The next step for the Urus, appealing to a broad client base looking to continue their adventures everywhere from the city to the sand dunes, from the countryside to ski resorts, is to extend our Super SUV’s features and customizability: Lamborghini’s Ad Personam program and Lamborghini colors are an integral aspect of our brand. The new options allow Urus owners to choose exteriors and interiors reflecting their personality, lifestyle, and their chosen adventures in the Urus.”
Lamborghini’s opening of its dedicated on-site paint shop in 2019, incorporating benchmarking Artificial Intelligence applications alongside combined craftsmanship and technologies, extends the potential and volume for exclusive color choices. As well as the new pearl colors in yellow, orange and green, reflecting the customer demand for sporty and vibrant Lamborghini exteriors, a new metallic grey Grigio Keres, dedicated to the Urus, has joined the elegant color palette along with a range of various matt colors in black, grey, blue and white, available through Ad Personam.

March 14, 2019
In the year 1962 in Bologna, Italy, Ferrucio Lamborghini conceived a vision of building a super sports car to compete with the world’s best. In the same year in Bologna, master violin maker Ansaldo Poggi produced one of his finest instruments. One of the distinguishing elements shared between Lamborghini and the modern Arcus violin bow is cutting-edge carbon fiber technology. What happens when these masterpieces reunite? In todays video we take a look at this beautiful brand new 2020 Lamborghini Huracan EVO! Super sharp styling on the outside finished in Grigio Artis, and the satin gray accents were perfect! Interior had black leather with blue stitching and accents. The V10 engine sounds awesome during some revs too! The Lamborghini Huracan is an iconic V10 supercar and truly is one of a kind!
The new EVO has an amazing new look over the original Huracan LP610 and LP580. I love the new sharp front and rear bumper. The new LCD screen in the center console is also a nice improvement for an easy to use interior.

In todays video we take a look at the brand new Urus! It has super sharp styling on the outside and looks really good with the two tone wheels! The twin turbo V8 sounds incredible and has a big change between the driving modes! You can get either a 4 seater or 5 depending on what you need and either way you have plenty of storage space and even towing! The three LCD screens are very crystal clear and have all the information easily available to the driver! All the materials on the inside have a great quality feel to them and the red is spot on with this interior!
